BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Shafter junior Nick Garza was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2019.

23ABC shared the story of how local wrestlers were shaving their heads to stand with him and help cheer him on in his fight. On Thursday, the General's rivals, the Wasco Tigers, shared a similar sentiment. With Nick still battling, the two teams came together, prayed and cheered on Nick via Facetime before the South Sequoia League title match.

Nick told 23ABC that when he is healthy, he will absolutely wrestle again.
