WAC championships canceled due to water main break in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — A water main break in Downtown Houston, Texas has put the WAC Swimming and Diving Championships on hold Thursday. This postponement affecting the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners set to compete this week.

Day 2 of the four-day competition started with high spirits for CSUB.

Freshman standout Mikayla Popham is seeded 1st in the 500 free.. following this morning’s preliminary swim in 4:52.25. That was matched by Sophomore Autumn D’Arcy taking the top spot in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:01.94.

On the men’s side, Junior Kris Rogic is seeded 5th in the 200 Individual Medley for the men. All three qualifying for the ‘A’ finals.

Conference officials and coaches voted and decided that Day 2 will be timed finals from this morning, which means wherever they finished in the preliminaries will be counted as finals.

The competition can determine who moves on to the NIC and NCAA Championships.
