Three local girls volleyball teams opened up state playoffs on Tuesday night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Following the weekend of playing for a Central Section title, three Bakersfield girls volleyball teams continued their postseason runs by opening up CIF SoCal Regional play at home on Tuesday night.

Liberty playing in Division One while 2019 valley champs, Bakersfield Christian, and Stockdale hosted teams in Division Two as their seasons ended in the first round of state playoffs.

D1 -

No. 8 Liberty Patriots could not stand up to No. 9 Long Beach Poly's height and hitting power, falling 3-0 in the D1 SoCal Regional Playoff, ending their season with a 26-7 record and a league title.

D2 -

A few nights after claiming a valley championship, No. 6 BCHS would fall 3-2 to No. 11 Ontario Christian in another battle-tested five set match.

No. 7-seeded Stockdale lost 3-0 to No. 10 Rancho Cucamonga, making the most of postseason after failing to make the playoffs a year ago.
