BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield College Renegades could have picked no better game than one against Ventura College on Homecoming night to pick up their first win on the new field turf.
The Pirates had other plans. Depsite the Renegades keeping up with the football powerhouse, they dropped this game by a final of 29 to 21.
Penalties, turnovers and special team blunders cost B.C. throughout the game.
"We killed ourselves," said head coach Jeff Chudy. "The penalties in the third quarter, offensively we couldn't get anything going. You can't fall behind the chains like that and then what happened as I said in the kicking game and the turnovers early, it's hard to overcome that stuff."
The Pirates kicked five field goals, a score through the air and added a special-teams touchdown to finish off Bakersfield College.
