Shafter streak alive, first 9-0 season since 1962

Posted

Not many teams, in any sport, can keep a perfect record going. Not many teams here in Kern County have been able to do it. But headed in week eleven of high school, the Shafter Generals are the last team in the county boasting an undefeated record.

After a 47-17 victory over fellow South Sequoia League foe, and undefeated Kennedy, the Generals tied the same 9-0 record that the team hasn't reached since 1962.

"It wasn't something quite unexpected, we knew going into this year that we had the team to really do something special. This has been a fun ride so far," head coach Jerald Pierucci said.

Wasco is the only team standing in Shafter's way for a perfect regular season record.
