BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Northwest Bakersfield baseball team opened up the semifinals of the Babe Ruth World Series against the top-ranked host team from Bismarck, North Dakota on Wednesday.
Bakersfield would get on top early with a 2-0 lead but would fall in a tough battle 4-3, ending their run in the tournament.
Andrew Sherrell received player of the game honors going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and triple.
From the mound, Kaleb Hay pitched a complete game striking out 5 and only allowing one earned run.
Sherrell along with Michael Baker finished the tournament with a .500 batting average.
Bakersfield finishes the tournament as the second ranked team in the National Division with a 3-1 record.
