Local volleyball team playing Central Section quarterfinals

Nine local volleyball teams played in the Central Section quarterfinals on Tuesday night. And the winners of those games are now a win away from reaching the sectional title game.

In Division I, No.6 Bakersfield and No. 3 Liberty was a rematch for the SWYL rivals.

Liberty would sweep in three sets to advance to face No. 2 Buchanan.

No. 4 Garces Memorial hosted No. 5 Clovis West and won the match, 4-1, to advance to play top-seeded Central in the semifinals.

In Division 2, No. 3 Bakersfield Christian hosted No. 11 Tehachapi. The Eagles capitalized on home court advantage to in win in four sets and advance to play No. 2 El Diamante.

In Division 4, the No. 1 seed, Mira Monte, continued their hot streak and swept visiting No. 8 Bishop. The Lions will host Immanuel in the semis.

In Division 5, No. 1 Frazier Mountain knocked out No. 7 in three straight sets to advance to play No. 14 Selma next.

All semifinals games will take place on Thursday, set for 7 p.m.
