CLOVIS, Calif. — The last time Buchanan took on Liberty, it was the Patriots running off the field in celebration. Running off the field after a field goal win in the CIF D1 Semi -final championship. Thursday night of the 2019 season was the Bears' chance for revenge.

The Liberty Patriots hoped to keep their undefeated season alive at the start of the game but Buchanan was the team celebrating with a 19-17 final score.

It was a Patriots kick that sent the Bears packing against Liberty last season but on Thursday, the Bears told a different story. Starting with junior Cade Euehling who led the Bears offensive effort and was able to punch it in the most important moments.

Despite grabbing a pair of their own touchdowns, the Pats came up short with the ball in their hands during the final seconds of the game.

These two teams met in the regular season and playoffs last year, and Liberty Head coach Bryan Nixon knows his players will be ready if it comes to that, again.

“Our kids know, that’s the first thing they are talking about ya know. Its okay its phase one, We want to be playing our best football at the end of the season so that’s what we’ll be looking forward to," Nixon said.

The Patriots return home next week for their first home game of the season as they look to bounce back from their first loss on the year.
