After a 30-28 win over Shafter for the DV Central Sectional Championship, the Kennedy Thunderbirds found out they would on the road to open up state playoffs.
They'll be facing Garfield out of Los Angeles (12-1) in the SoCal D-4A game on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs will not be an easy task this weekend but neither was defeating their rival, Shafter.
They used a hot offensive start but relied on defense to overcome the Generals late comeback.
"We normally stay on one side of the ball, and we said, we'll save it for when we need it," Kennedy coach Mario Millan said after the win. "Well, the valley championship is when you need it."
