Four of our area football teams will be playing for a valley title this week. And we will be previewing each team this week.
Starting it off with the Kennedy Thunderbirds who are set to a rematch against South Sequoia rival, Shafter. Coach Millan and his players happily accept round two of this matchup because they want to beat the best team to earn a championship. And currently, as the only undefeated team in the county and a No. 1 seed in Division V of the Central Section, the Generals look to be just that.
But a win on Friday, won't be the only the blemish to be cleared for the Thunderbirds. Their 73-19 win against Caruthers was revenge on the Blue Raiders from a year ago as Caruthers knocked Kennedy out of the playoffs in 2017.
Now, avenging their lone blemish on the season and claiming a valley title is the next goal for the Thunderbirds.
They face Generals on the road on Friday for the Central Section Division V finals at 7 p.m.
