FNL Player of the Week: Sam Stewart Jr.

Posted

Our week 11 FNL Player of the Week went to Liberty senior running back and linebacker, Sam Stewart Jr.

Stewart has been impressive all season long, averaging 136 yards per game, left everything on the field during the Patriot's 7-0 win for the outright South Yosemite League title.

He rushed for a game-high 156 yards and the lone touchdown during an "old-school" defensive battle between Liberty and Bakersfield. And when it mattered most, Stewart mustered up all that he had left to charge his team down the field in the final 60-yard drive to run time off the clock for the victory.

Stewart credits his performance and fighting through fatigue to just loving to compete. He remained out on the field throughout a draining game where he played majority of snaps on both sides of the ball.

Now, Stewart will look to lead his team to their next goal, a valley title.
