BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team left for Arizona by bus for the 2019 Western Athletic Conference tournament, their seventh consecutive trip.

After a season of ups and downs, the 'Runners found some momentum late in the season, rattling off five wins during their final two series and ending the regular season with a sweep at Chicago State.

"Lately we've been putting all three parts together; we've been hitting, we've been pitching, we've been playing a lot better defense and that's been consistent, so you see a little bit more confidence when guys are playing all three parts and it's exciting to watch as a coach because you kind of wait for it and it certainly has at the right time," head coach Jeremy Beard said.

CSUB plays Grand Canyon first in the tourney, as the two teams meet up in Mesa, Ariz. on Wednesday.
