BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield College Renegades has been hitting the practice fields as they prepare for the 2019 season.
BC is coming off a 6-5 season that ended in the final seconds of the Patriotic Bowl against Saddleback College.
Head Coach Jeff Chudy is back for his 15th season with the Gades and with three weeks until the season opener at Memorial Stadium, there are still plenty of position battles and starting spots up for grabs.
“We have a lot of depth across the board and there’s great competition and that’s what you hope as a coach. It’s open competition, we’re getting everyone equal opportunity right now, reps haven’t been designated to one guy or the other group, there is no real starting 11 right now,” Chudy said.
BC will be excited to start the season in Bakersfield on September 7 following a 2018 season where they went undefeated at home.
This year they’ll have more motivation for home field advantage after unveiling new artificial turf this offseason.
