BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield College Renegade football team has had an up and down 2019 season, sitting at 2-3, but they are welcoming in the bye week during week six.

The Gades are getting in some extra practice and recovery following their second win of the season against Orange Coast College, winning 28-3 while showing off a balance offense through the air and on the ground.

Now, the team is soaking up the week without a game while maintaining momentum from last Saturday.

"Knowing that even though we don't have a game this week that we have to keep the energy up during practice and during the drills and yeah, just, keep going," quarterback Braden Wingle said.

"I'm loving it. We got some time to recover, get our mind, keep it on football but step away for the weekend and take that deep breath, I'm having a good time," defensive back Justin Harrington said.

The team will also be gearing up for their first conference game of the year, as they are set to host rival Ventura on Saturday 19 for homecoming.
