BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Three Australian baseball teams, known as the Colts, made Bakersfield their home for a week for the World Baseball Showcases. On Friday, a Kern County team from Pro Player Academy got to face off against the Colts at Centennial High School.
The Pacific Stars didn't show their Aussie competition much American hospitality in the first game, winning by a final score of 10-5.
While a game over at Cal State Bakersfield, pitting the 18U Colts team against a Los Angeles area Tomateroes, went to the Aussies with a final of 5-3.
An overall great experience for everyone in both dugouts getting a chance to implement international competition right here in Kern County. That blend of cultures was something these players focused on during the experience.
"Like, I'm from Puerto Rico learning new things over here in California and I just want to keep on growing and learning from other people," Pac Star athlete Luis Arroyo said.
All the coaches and players this week from either side have talked about the importance of all their teams connecting and building relationships.
