ARVIN, Calif. — On the outskirts of Kern County you will find the little city of Arvin. A city that is sometimes overlooked, but carries a lot of heart, especially out on the soccer fields.
"We try to play our hearts out," said soccer player, Anahi Penloza. "We know we give it our all. I cherish this sport and I cherish this team as well.”
The Arvin High girls soccer team made history this month by winning their first ever league championship and is now on a run to the Central Section Championship
The first-seeded Bears faced No. 4 Minarets Tuesday evening in the Division 6 semifinals and defeated them 2-1.
The Bears will now advance to the Central Section Championship this Friday in Arvin against Fresno Christian. The time is still to be determined.
"It means a lot to us, the finals," said Penloza. "I really hope we win and we get this ring because we really deserve it. All of our teammates deserve that ring. We give it our all and we don’t give up."
