BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — At 49-years-old Mark Majewski is living out his dreams of playing hockey and graduating college.

Majewski is a team captain for the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners' hockey team. His team calls him "The Juice."

He also started attending CSUB in the Fall of 2018. In his first semester he earned a 3.95 G.P.A. He says he is majoring in liberal studies with hopes of becoming a K-6 teacher.

Mark grew up on the ice. Born in Illinois, it was a way of life, he says. He had dreams of becoming a professional hockey player.

He earned a Division I scholarship to the Air Force to play hockey. He then enlisted as an Environmental Technician for three more years.

Once he retired from the Air Force, he started a family and entered into the work force in Bakersfield. But, in the back of his mind, he still wanted to play hockey.

Shortly after, Mark was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer. He beat the Big C after months of chemotherapy and major surgeries.

Now, he's back on the ice decades later and better than ever.
