BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — After 12 games and two days of basketball, Garces Memorial and Cesar Chavez were the only two teams left standing at the Elite Eight Challenge.

The Rams were hoping to capture the championship in their own building and that's exactly what they did. Led by junior J.J. Uphold who scored 18 points and junior Ipreye Egbe who scored 24, Garces rolled past the Titans 61 to 46.

Head coach Brian Dignan told their team it takes big play to win big games and his guys pulled through.

"You know we talk about getting championship experience and even in a win we had a lot of mistakes that we can learn from and take forward into league against the really good teams," he said. "It's nice to get to the championship and win but also be able to learn from that experience."
