The Big West Conference announced on Wednesday that fall sports would be postponed through the end of the year. This decision affects CSUB's men's and women's soccer, cross-country, indoor volleyball and women's golf for the fall portion of their competitive schedule.
“The health and safety of our student-athletes will continue to be the priority in any decisions we make,” said Dr. Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried, CSUB’s Athletics Director in a statement. “I am heartbroken for all of our student-athletes who compete in the fall. Having said that, we are optimistic that our student-athletes will have the opportunity to train, condition, and practice in the fall to be prepared for when competition returns, as long as health conditions allow.”
Student-athletes will be allowed to return to campus for conditioning, training, and practice. However, those activities must continue to follow strict compliance with NCAA regulations, institutional policies, and public health guidelines.
CSUB winter sports of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, indoor track and field, swimming and diving, and wrestling are not affected by this decision.
