BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Christian have been chasing down their own story since beginning the postseason and with a valley championship in hand, the team had their sights set on a state title.
Following a 42-21 victory over Sunny Hills High School in the Division 3-A CIF SoCal Regional bowl game, the Eagles have began preparing for the NorCal champs Rancho Cotate in the CIF Division 3-A Final on Saturday.
A team that features many diverse characters has joined together to rewrite the story for the football program as they hope to bring back the team's first state championship. It would be the school's second overall title as girls volleyball won a state championship in 2008.
The week leading up to the game the Eagles returned to Head Coach Darren Carr's former college field at Memorial Stadium to get a feel for turf as the Cougars will host BCHS on an artificial field in the championship.
That game is set to kick at 6 p.m.
