BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — If you're a Bakersfield local, chances are you've dined at Mama Roomba downtown.

The Caribbean restaurant has been in town for 15 years, and owner Victor Casas wants to make sure his regulars are well taken care of, even in an uncertain time like this.

"A lot of my regulars are still calling. And they just pull over and pick up their food," Victor said.

Mama Roomba is one of the many eateries in town that's offering curbside service, takeout, and delivery.

In addition to their full menu, they also offer a daily special - dinner for four people, for $40.

"If they want to include a bottle of wine we sell it for 20 dollars more. So it's just 60 dollars for the whole package," Victor said.

This deal changes every day, due to the difficulty of buying certain foods right now.

"It's hard, all the stores are half empty."

But Victor's main concern is being able to keep his staff employed through the pandemic.

"We try not to let everybody go stay at home. There's a lot of people out there who live day by day, and they have to pay rent, so we have to make a little bit of money," Victor said.

He is thankful for those community members who are still supporting his business amid all the new restrictions and changes.

"I hope this ends pretty soon, like we need to go back to normal," Victor said. "I just wanna say I hope everybody stays safe and take care of their families."
