For the smallest of our area businesses, the Covid-19 pandemic has done a lot of damage. But for some, there is hope on the horizon, and that glimmer has provided one family with just the incentive they need to say "We're Open Kern County."
"Killer Poke" was placed on life support back on March 20th. Joy Howard closed the doors when her downtown clientele stayed at home, and she's been counting the days.
"On social media, people were asking us to open again," said Howard, "hoping that soon we would get back to normal."
Joy found out on Friday that she had received the PPP loan and that was the final push she needed to open on May 4th.
"Killer Poke" will be open Monday - Friday from 11am until 6pm.
