ANAHEIM, Calif. — Authorities say a pedestrian who was more than eight months pregnant was struck and killed by a car in Southern California, but her baby survived.

Police say 23-year-old Yesenia Lisette Aguilar of Anaheim was walking on a sidewalk with her husband in Anaheim Tuesday when a Jeep SUV jumped the curb, drove along the sidewalk and struck her.

The driver, 40-year-old Courtney Pandolfi of Garden Grove, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter and driving on a suspended license.

The baby was hospitalized in critical condition in a neonatal intensive care unit.
