SACRAMENTO, Calif — The California Department of Transportation will honor 189 employees who have died while on the job since 1921.

The tribute will feature 189 traffic cones placed in the shape of diamond to mimic a highway caution sign. Each traffic cone will feature the name of a Caltrans worker who has died. The display will be at the Caltrans memorial bridge.

Two Caltrans Honor guard members will stand watch over the tribute from 11 a.m. to noon today.
