Public health officials have stated that people with preexisting health conditions are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19.

People with diabetes are among those at increased risk for complications from COVID-19, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention says.

"When people with diabetes develop a viral infection, it can be harder to treat due to fluctuations in blood glucose levels and, possibly, the presence of diabetes complications," said the International Diabetes Federation.
