American Airlines has confirmed Congress will not act Wednesday night and they are now forced to lay-off/furlough 19,000 employees.

American Airlines already received $4.1 billion in grants and more than $7 billion in loans from the federal government, but with the pandemic stretching into its eighth month, air carriers now have to figure out how to stay solvent without government aid.

17,500 frontline employees furloughed and 1,500 involuntary separations on the management level.
