BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A few parents of Independence High School students are makin' sure their soon-to-be grads will get a proper celebration despite the cancellation of all high school activities for the rest of the school year.

Their plan is to hold a car parade sometime in May as a makeshift graduation for all of the seniors who would like to participate. They have created a group on Facebook for all seniors and their families to stay on top of the planning and details for the future event. They are even looking into to getting caps and gowns for their graduates.

Here's a message from one of the moms who created the page: "Hey parents! I know we are all heartbroken for our kids not being able to enjoy the end of their senior year and the activities. We don’t even know of graduation ceremony will happen. We want to remain positive and plan a parent car parade for our neighborhoods and try to celebrate our kids (at a distance lol). Any ideas welcome and please share with other parents of seniors. Thank you!"

If you would like to join the Facebook group, you can find it here.
