BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield College's industrial technology faculty teamed up to make face shields and donate them to Clinica Sierra Vista Wednesday.
The faculty used its 3D printer to create 50 face shield to be donated to CSV. Officials said they wanted to help provide another layer of protection so that doctors can continue to fight the virus.
"Our faculty member working with a student said, 'hey we have this 3d printer over there. We have the materials, we have the ability and what can we do to help the community?" said Cindy Collier of Bakersfield College. "We started talking with them and we recognized that our smaller health care facilities like Clinica or places that have a lot of clinics are having a hard time getting the PPE that they need for their personnel. So, we wanted to do something to help them."
BC officials also added that they noticed a lot of their students use Clinica Sierra Vista, so it was another way to help their students as well.
Clinica sierra vista said they are grateful for the help from BC.
