BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Today a group of young eagles will get to soar for the first time ever. The Young Eagles Flight Program will have its inaugural flight today out at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport.

This program teaches kids ages 8 to 17 the wonders and joys of flying by professional and certified pilots. Pilots will teach kids what to do, how airplanes work, how to look at maps, and then the best part -- they take to the sky!

Today's event starts at 8 a.m. And they'd like to continue this program on the first Saturday of every month. If you'd like to register visit their website.
