TEHACHAPI, Calif. — World War II veteran John Grenek passed away on November 26, 2019 at his home in Tehachapi at the age of 98.

Grenek enlisted in the US Army and served under General George Patton on D-Day and the allied push through France. He was awarded five battle stars during his service.

As the world remembers the 75th anniversary of the 'Battle of the Bulge', 23ABC's Alicia Patillo sat down for an interview with Grenek on Memorial Day in 2016.

His funeral services are still pending.
