Late Sunday night, an adult woman was struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian traffic collision in the 2700 block of South Real Road.

On arrival officers located the woman who had been struck by a vehicle. Hall Ambulance and Bakersfield Fire Department personnel arrived on-scene and determined the pedestrian was suffering from major injuries. The woman was transported to a local hospital.

On Tuesday, August 11th, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The decedent’s identity will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to have contributed to this collision however; the investigation is continuing.

This is the 22nd fatal collision that has occurred within the city of Bakersfield this year.
