WASCO, Calif — Wasco State Prison is among a handful of prisons across the state that have been fined by Cal/OSHA over their handling of coronavirus in the workplace.
The inspections took place from May 7 through November 20. The fines were issued on November 23.
According to the state website the prison was fined $16,360 for 3 violations including 2 serious infractions. the state website says that the prison did not have an adequate plan in place to protect workers from viruses transmitted through the air. They also did not fit employees properly for face masks requiring a filter.
Other prisons across the Central Valley received fines including California State Prison, Corcoran and Avenal State Prison for similar violations.
