UPDATE: The Kern County Sheriff's Office (KSCO) released the identities of the two arrested at the scene. Paul Anthony Vasquez Flores, 38, and Michelle Louise Estrada, 39, were immediately detained by KCSO officers following multiple reports of a shooting at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Oildale.

According to the KCSO, Flores physically assaulted an unidentified man inside the Walmart before arming himself with a handgun. He then proceeded to chase the man into the parking lot, where he shot at him and missed multiple times, and then back into the store. No one at the scene was struck by the gunfire.

Flores was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, attempted murder, and possession of stolen property. Meanwhile, Estrada was arrested and booked for accessory, conspiracy, concealing evidence, and possession of stolen property.


UPDATE: A shooting took place around 6:30 pm Monday at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Oildale located at the intersection of North Chester and West Day Avenue.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says one man has been arrested in connection to the shooting and a firearm has been recovered from the scene.

KCSO also reports that nobody was injured in the shooting.

23ABC was at the scene of the shooting and spoke to an eyewitness who was inside the store at the time of the incident. He said he heard someone come into the store yelling about a shooter.

The 23ABC crew was also present to see a female being arrested and put inside a sheriff’s vehicle.

23ABC saw two people, a man and a woman, being removed from the Walmart in handcuffs and placed into KCSO squad cars.

Police as asking people to stay away from the area until further notice.
