EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — A full team of NASA astronauts is on its way to the International Space Station, including two astronauts who studied right here in Kern County.

SpaceX Pilot Victor Glover and Michael Hopkins both studied at Edwards Air Force Base.

Glover is the first black astronaut on an extended stay at the ISS. He earned his Master of Science in Flight Test Engineering at EAB in 2007.

Hopkins attended the flight test engineering course at EAB in 1996.

The crew will work to develop new spacecraft systems that will provide roundtrip crew transportation services to the ISS.
