WASCO, Calif. — Two people were arrested in Wasco after they were found in possession of forged checks and Social Security cards.
On Sunday, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office found a car illegally parked at a Walmart in Wasco. Both the driver, 33-year-old Raymond Pruitt of Hanford, and his passenger, 36-year-old Shandra Smith of Visalia, were wanted on felony warrants.
"In the vehicle, deputies located several personal and business checks which did not belong to Pruitt or Smith. Several checks were altered or forged. Deputies also found several identification and social security cards which did not belong to Pruitt or Smith," according th the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Pruitt and Smith were arrested and charged with forgery, intent to defraud and conspiracy. Pruitt faces additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
