Robert Pernell Roberts was in court on Wed, April 19.
Roberts faces murder and robbery charges in connection to the death of former California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation counselor Benny Alcala Jr. Roberts allegedly shot and killed Alcala in a Target parking lot in Southwest Bakersfield last August.
The trial has been pushed back and is now expected to begin on Wed, May 24.
