It was a record breaking field trip day for the Bakersfield Condors on Thursday.
Over 8,000 students from Bakersfield, Kern County, Fresno County, and Tulare County with over 100 schools piled into Rabobank arena on Thursday to watch the Condors take on the Stockton Heat. According to the Condors, it was an educational themed game full of videos, games, and lunch.
The students even took home an educational booklet to take back with them to their classrooms. The game was presented by HOT 94.1 and the Kern Schools Federal Credit Union.
This game was for students who did well in school this year by earning good grades and having good attendance. Seventh grader, Gloria Gill from Freedom Middle School never been to a Condors Game before and she was very excited to have the day off!
"I loved it and I loved watching the game and being with my friends," Gill says.
Matt King is the Vice Principal of Freedom Middle School and he glad to offer this opportunity as a reward for students to be motivated to have good grades in school.
"The opportunity for the students to come and they get to see what its like to go around the arena without being in line or being escorted around . We take great pride in our students respecting the facilities and staff at the arena and knowing they represent freedom middle school no matter what," King says.
