BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Thee Next Steps is an organization that brings awareness to issues in Kern County while hosting events that benefit community members.

Twice a month, Thee Next Steps volunteers pick a low income part of the county to feed the homeless, or anyone in need of some extra food, and pick up trash.

The organization was officially founded at the beginning of the year and founder Mo Ali sid their goal is to unite the community, especially during all of the struggles families are facing right now due to the pandemic.

"There’s just so much going on this year so we just want to give back to the community and let them know that someone’s there to try to support them where they can, and that the resources are there and pointing them in the right direction just in case they need further assistance down the road," said Ali.

In addition to offering food and cleaning up the area during these events, Thee Next Steps also provides information on various food and housing resources for people or families who need extra help.

“We have more resources than we think, you know, we just need to come together and [realize] that togetherness is really the key," said Ali.

Anyone in need can stop by to grab some food, and anyone looking to participate is welcome to attend these events and help give out meals and clean up the park.
