TEHACHAPI, Calif. — Tehachapi City Councilman Kenneth R. Hetge has resigned. Hetge, who was an at-large member from District 2, submitted his letter to Mayor Susan Wiggins citing a desire to spend more time with a family member suffering from an "unexpected family illness."
Hetge's term was set to end in November.
Hetge said being a council member was "a challenge, but he ended his letter by saying "I will remain a City of Tehachapi resident but feel I can accomplish more, and be more effective on critical matters, by not being a seated member of the City Council."
