If you're planning on driving on a major California road Sunday after Thanksgiving, expect to have a lot of company. AAA travel experts estimate the Sunday after Thanksgiving to be the busiest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday season.
The Auto Club experts anticipate more than 6.8 million drivers to be on California roads from Thanksgiving through Sunday. That's the most expected drivers for Thanksgiving since 2005.
If you do plan on traveling, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Bryan Hunt has some extra tips for you. He said plan on leaving early or late to try to drive before or after the peak driving times. And if you get drowsy while driving to pull over for food, a nap or walk. He also said for drivers to avoid distractions by allowing their passengers read directions, answer phone calls and deliver text.
And finally Sgt. Hunt said, be courtesy on the road helps. Drivers rarely get to their destination significantly faster when they're drive with road rage. And if someone is driving faster behind you, move over to let them pass.
