The man accused of stabbing multiple people at a Starbucks in Southwest Bakersfield has been identified.

Bakersfield Police say 31-year-old Robert Daniel Rivas has been charged with multiple felonies including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Rivas is accused of attacking a woman on Sunday and chasing her into the Starbucks on Stockdale Highway near California Avenue.

While in Starbucks, Rivas was confronted by a Good Samaritan, identified as 27-year-old Blaine Hodge.

Witnesses say Hodge intervened and eventually suffered multiple stab wounds. Witnesses say Rivas used a machete in his attack.

Hodge was set to undergo surgery Monday.

Police say the woman is in critical condition.
