Square watermelons are gaining popularity in Japan.

Some salesmen said the watermelons were invented as an indoor ornament rather than fruit and last for about a month if kept at room temperature.

They have become so popular though that people are paying up to $150 per watermelon to get their hands on one.

Profit chasers around the world are now considering growing watermelons in other shapes such as hearts or pyramids to make money.
