Shooting leaves one person dead in East Bakersfield, KCSO identifies victim

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police department responded to a shooting Saturday night that left one person with major injuries, officials said.

Police responded to the area near the Bank of America located on Baker Street in East Bakersfield.

BPD confirmed one victim with major injuries but did not give other details about the person.

KCSO has confirmed the identity of the victim as 27-year-old Raymond Velasquez.

He died at the scene.

A postmortem examination will be performed to confirm his cause and manner of death.

Authorities do not have suspect information at this time.
