Shafter preparing high school students for college through advanced placement courses

Posted

Shafter High School is preparing their students for college by focusing on advanced placement courses.

23ABC's Scott Sheahen talked with Shafter Learning Center Program Coordinator America Niño-Rodriguez about how education is a key factor in pushing Shafter forward. She says advanced placement courses help students at Shafter High School by allowing them to take college courses while still in high school.

"So what we're doing, as the city of Shafter, is really highlighting [advanced placement] and letting students know that this is really important, not just for their future, but also it helps them save in terms of when they get to college."
