Just after 3 p.m. on Monday, officers with Shafter Police Department responded to an incident near 500 North Shafter Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision.
On arrival, officers said that they found a Dodge truck had collided with a Honda sedan. The driver of the Honda suffered major injuries and was transported to a Bakersfield hospital. A passenger in the Honda suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Bakersfield hospital as well. The driver of the Dodge did not report any injuries.
The driver of the Honda was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The cause and collision is still under investigation. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
