SHAFTER, Calif. — The Shafter City Council is set to meet Tuesday night as tensions rise about proposed changes to the new veterans memorial.

The council originally decided on June 18th that a plaque would be added to the Veterans Park Veterans Memorial containing city council member names and titles. After four people urged them to revisit the issue at the July 16th meeting the city council agreed to take another look at the placement of a council plaque at the veterans memorial.

There has been a public call for Kern County veterans to attend Tuesday night's meeting.
