School, state and city officials hold meeting to discuss plan for Lakeside School water issue

Posted

Lakeside School sits just a few miles south of the Bakersfield city limit.

Ten years ago the state forced the school to serve only bottled water to students and staff because of high levels of arsenic in the drinking water.

For awhile now city staff and California state water staff have been negotiating the best plan for the school moving forward.

Thursday night school, state and city officials met at Donald E. Suburu Elementary for the latest meeting, where many parents voiced their opinions.

A final decision was not made Thursday night, but state officials are expected to choose the outcome following the next meeting.
