BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Regal Cinemas has announced it has temporarily furloughed 64 employees at Edwards Cinemas movie theater on Ming Avenue due to COVID-19.
The company said these furloughs took effect in March and were estimated to last no longer than six weeks as a majority of theaters were forced to close.
Regal said that while it is unlikely, it is now "reasonably foreseeable" that these furloughs could last long enough to be considered "layoffs amounting to employee losses."
