Community Action Partnership of Kern, Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance and the United Farm Workers Foundation will host informational meetings about individuals who are considered to be "Public Charge".
According to Community Action Partnership of Kern, “A 'Public Charge’ is someone who is considered dependent on the government for their day-to-day living. A person that is deemed a public charge, or likely to become one in the future, can be denied entry into the country and may be ineligible to become a lawful permanent resident."
The informational meetings will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. at the Friendship House Community Center in Bakersfield and Thursday, March 14 at 5 p.m. at the Shafter Youth Center in Shafter.
