PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KERO) — The Porterville Fire Department announced plans to honor the two firefighters who were killed during a blaze at the town's library last year.
The one-year anniversary of the fire that took the lives of Fire Captain Raymond Figueroa and Firefighter Patrick Jones is on February 18.
Figueroa, 35, grew up in Delano and was living in Bakersfield while working with the Porterville Fire Department.
According to the Porterville Police Department, two 13-year-old boys were accused of setting the fire. Last August the teens were released under the condition they wear a monitor and stay at home.
Their next court date is February 25.
The Porterville fire department plans to hold a virtual memorial ceremony on Feb. 18, honoring both Figueroa and Jones.
It was pre-recorded and will air on the department's Facebook page at 4 p.m.
Dispatch will also alert all stations to broadcast a moment of silence at 4:16 p.m.
